The Care Women Deserve.

What is it?

Pelvic floor physical therapy is essential to women’s health by helping women with a variety of issues that can arise overtime or after an event like birth or trauma.

Examples:

  • Diastasis recti

  • Pelvic girdle pain

  • Sexual dysfunction

  • Symphysis pubis dysfunction (SPD)

  • Pelvic organ prolapse

  • Bowel & bladder dysfunction (incontinence, smearing)

  • Scar tissue

  • Lower abdominal weakness

  • Tailbone pain

  • Hysterectomy

  • Endometriosis and PCOS pain

  • Back & hip pain

  • Interstitial Cystitis (IC)

  • And more.

Unfortunately, some of these issues are often considered "normal" and ignored. However, pelvic floor physical therapy provides a safe and effective treatment method through targeted exercises and specialized treatment.

Treatment

Through guided and personalized exercises, education, and manual therapy, trained physical therapists can help improve pelvic floor function while attending to the whole body while functioning in all 3 planes of motion. Pelvic floor physical therapy also helps women who have never experienced pregnancy but experience pelvic health difficulties.

MamaBPT can help you by improving:

  • Whole body awareness

  • Scar tissue elasticity

  • Strength of body, core, and pelvic floor in preparation for labor and delivery

  • Postpartum recovery

  • Diastasis recti

  • Bowel & bladder habits

  • Breath awareness

  • And more.

Pelvic floor physical therapy not only addresses the physical needs but also lifestyle habits. With every diagnosis, it starts with the basics of learning to breathe correctly and controlling pressure while performing daily tasks.

Benefits

By strengthening and maintaining a healthy pelvic floor, women can prevent or manage issues that may arise as they age and promote better core stability. This will help to reduce the risk of back pain and enhance overall body function.

FAQs

Do you provide free consultations

Yes, upon request, we can provide 15 minute complimentary phone consultations.

What does a pelvic floor evaluation look like?

We will have a conversation about the concerns of the patient, ask about their history of childbirth, pregnancies, trauma, etc. After receiving consent, we will perform functional and muscle testing to determine the best treatment. If an internal vaginal exam is indicated, the therapist will assess muscle strength, length, and endurance of the pelvic floor muscles as well as any scar tissue and muscle tension. Typically treatment can begin immediately after the assessment.

Do you also treat orthopedic conditions?

Yes, this includes shoulder, neck, back, hip, knee, foot pain, TMJ pain (jaw), vestibular, etc.

Do you accept insurance?

No, we do not accept insurance. Instead, a superbill will be processed and the patient can submit it to their insurance company. This will be a document that includes diagnosis and procedure codes for the treatment that can potentially be reimbursed by the insurance company.

Will my credit card be charged at the time of scheduling?

No, a credit card is required at the time of scheduling in the case there is a cancellation or no-show. The card will be charged after the scheduled visit.

Can I bring my baby/child?

Yes, of course. I do not want child care concerns to interfere with your ability to come for treatment. If you need to bring your child/children, we will make accommodations. Toys will be provided.

What is the cancellation policy?

We require a 24-hour notice for appointment cancellations. We require that you email or text us at 661.383.2296 to avoid a cancellation or no show charge. Failure to provide timely notice or missing an appointment will result in a $50 fee. This fee will automatically be charged to your card. What if I’m late to the appointment?

What if I’m late to the appointment?

Please inform the therapist you are running behind, the standard rate for that treatment session will still apply. If you need to cancel, there will be a $50 fee.
